Coffee and Health

Coffee is one of the most popular beverages worldwide. Nevertheless, it is often associated with myths and classified as a product that is harmful to health. Recently numerous scientific studies have appeared that reveal the beneficial effects of moderate consumption of coffee for health and general well-being.
  • Besides caffeine, coffee contains minerals (calcium, sodium, small quantities of iron, zinc and copper), vitamins (B2, B3, B5 and B6) and polyphenols, important components for the proper functioning of the human body.
  • The moderate ingestion of coffee has been shown to cause an increase in alertness and concentration.
  • Coffee boosts energy and good humour.
  • Prevention of certain pathologies such as Type 2 Diabetes, Alzheimer, Parkinson and certain types of cancer.
  • Antioxidant, helping to delay the ageing of cells and to prevent cardiovascular diseases.
  • More recent evidence also suggests a connection between the consumption of coffee and the prevention of obesity.
